"as a Farmer Florist, i love that i get to combine the Science of growing plants and the Design of the florals. really tickles me. always has, always will."

Behind The Farmer Florist —

From a young age, I was constantly foraging flowers from the woods and raiding my mother's colorful zinnia beds. After ditching a career in political science, I decided wake up and smell the roses (bad pun intended) and took up graduate work in horticulture at UMass Amherst and landscape design studies at Radcliffe. That background in science and design is rooted in everything I do and has inspired my work from the very beginning. Since 1998, I’ve farmed land up and down the eastern part of Massachusetts from West Boxford and North Reading to Chelmsford, Weymouth, West Bridgewater and now Kingston. Outside of growing flowers and designing floral arrangements for my weekly corporate clients and brides, I also market to the Boston Wholesale Flower Exchange.

A Few Of My Favorite Things —

Flower: Dahlias.
Season: Spring; it's full of so much dreaming, planning, taking stock of the past year, but mostly full of hope for all of my best laid plans for the year.
Work Moment: When I deliver a bouquet to the bride and see her eyes light up with excitement; it's pure joy.
Pastime: Learning to sail, perusing seed catalogs, and anything my ten year old Charlie girl still wants to do with me!
Color: Green, green, green
Food: Anything farm-to-table; especially fresh vegetables plucked right from my backyard.
Poison: White bordeaux, and of course Rose all day.
Style: Loose, organic florals that look lush, ethereal and "just picked" from the garden.
Quote: "More than anything, I must have flowers."  I think Monet coined that one, but I know many in my tribe who feel the same way.
